Decide whether the question is timing or topic discovery
Use a longer timeline when asking whether interest recurs seasonally. Use keyword and competitor research when asking what related topics to investigate. In both cases, inspect actual results before choosing a page format and intended audience; neither chart writes the brief for you.
Do not convert an index into searches
A Trends series describes relative interest within its settings. Doubling an index does not establish that your page will receive twice as many visits. Multiplying unrelated measures can create a misleadingly precise forecast; explain the evidence and uncertainty behind a topic decision instead.
Create one seasonal brief
For a recurring business event, combine historical timing, present results and the answer you can supply. Plan for when readers begin preparing, not merely the day interest peaks. Separate durable instructions from conditions that require a dated update each year.
Example: planning a seasonal campaign
For a seasonal campaign, form a timing hypothesis first, then use keyword candidates and real results to identify the explanations needed. Do not publish every candidate because a trend window appears attractive. Group them by preparation, comparison and purchase conditions. If one substantial guide answers the task, maintaining a single source of changing conditions may be more useful than producing several thin pages.
Retain evidence against the proposal
Rising interest does not justify a topic you cannot answer responsibly or a page already covered elsewhere on your site. Record whether updating an existing guide is sufficient and whether maintainable evidence exists. Research should support declining an idea as well as approving it. Treat tool outputs as evidence in that decision, not the decision itself. This keeps a finite editorial budget focused on useful answers instead of an ever-growing list of attractive-looking candidates.
Decide whether a paid research layer is needed
Existing-page timing may be addressable with your current search data and Trends. A broader market investigation may justify testing the relevant Semrush capabilities. Tie recurring payment to recurring work rather than keeping a subscription simply because it once produced an interesting chart.
