  1. Identify the main revision
  2. Trial one complete interview excerpt
  3. Normalize the export requirement
  4. Make the choice at renewal scale
  5. A structural edit versus a caption-only edit

Identify the main revision

Selecting statements from a long interview puts the transcript-to-media relationship at the center of the evaluation. If the sequence is settled and the job is caption correction and presentation, export and styling matter more. Read Descript’s transcript-oriented offering and VEED’s browser-caption workflow through that distinction rather than treating every AI editing feature as equally relevant.

Trial one complete interview excerpt

Use the same source and shorten the introduction, move one statement, correct captions and finish a portrait cut. Check speaker continuity and caption timing. Log the manual fixes after the first automated pass. This reveals whether an apparently quick start merely moves the difficult work into the last stage of production.

Normalize the export requirement

Specify the same resolution and watermark requirement for both trials. VEED documents watermarking on free-account exports, which matters if a client requires a clean file. Also test whatever editable project and caption-text handoff your delivery requires. A clean preview is not proof that the actual downloaded file or reusable source meets the same specification.

Make the choice at renewal scale

For weekly interviews, prioritize repeated selection and structural revisions. For captions added to an existing video library, prioritize correction and delivery. Agree on file naming and retention during the trial, so another editor can connect the source, corrected text and rendered output. Renewal should reflect the recurring task rather than the most impressive optional feature.

A structural edit versus a caption-only edit

Have the same editor complete one structural revision and one caption-only correction. The two tasks do not have to use the same tool. Compare the convenience of keeping everything in one application with the handoff cost of using separate ones. Include the source and final files in the test so the preferred arrangement remains workable during later revisions.
