Specify the scene you need
At the time checked, the former Dream Machine URL presented Luma’s Creative Agents. If you arrived through the old name, first identify the current offering and account rather than assuming the legacy product terms still apply.
Write a one-sentence shot brief before evaluating a generator. A static product view, a moving camera and a shot that must match an adjacent scene have different requirements. A visually attractive output can still fail its editorial purpose; define that purpose before spending time comparing variants.
Identify the actual offering
Match the marketing page to the interface and subscription you will actually use. Do not assume web, app and API arrangements are interchangeable. This guide does not quote a verified fixed monthly price or recurring free allowance: establish model access, usage, commercial scope and billing period for the selected offering first.
Define rejection rules
For a product explainer, rejection rules might include changed shape, illegible labels or the important subject leaving the frame. Use your own or properly cleared reference material in a short evaluation. Preserve unsuccessful results too; they help decide whether to refine the brief or replace the shot with another kind of visual.
Include post-generation work
Duration, aspect ratio, captions, narration and sound level remain part of finishing the delivery. Count the work through final export, rather than stopping at a usable-looking generation. Apply the same brief and rejection criteria when evaluating Runway or Firefly so that the comparison reflects an actual production decision.
Keep a deadline-safe fallback
For a deadline, prepare an alternative such as a controlled still-image move, a short filmed insert or a diagram. Agree on a stopping rule before evaluating. If the planned trial budget does not produce the required asset, changing the treatment may be more dependable than extending generation indefinitely.
The same product in adjacent shots
Create a front view and an angled view of the same object, then compare color, outline and apparent scale. Each clip may look plausible alone while the edit suggests two different products. Put the candidates into a timeline during evaluation and review the transition before extending the approach to more shots. This tests editorial continuity, not a general claim about the model’s consistency.
