Define the destination and the indispensable information

Consider a landscape product explanation being adapted for a phone-first vertical release. The assignment is not simply a center crop. List what must survive each scene: a face, the complete product, a button being demonstrated, or a qualification next to a price. Confirm current aspect-ratio and display requirements at the actual destination. Duplicate the editing version and keep the approved landscape master separate. This gives the vertical editor freedom to change composition without silently damaging the existing deliverable or confusing the reviewer about which version is being assessed.

Choose framing scene by scene

A single presenter may work with a face-centered frame, but two-person interviews, side-by-side tables and full-screen demonstrations require different treatment. Inspect the beginning and end of each scene and note changes in the point of attention. Options include switching speakers, separating a slide into its own scene, or retaining the full source within a designed background. If an automatic reframing suggestion is used, review the entire movement. A plausible opening frame does not prove that tracking will continue to follow the intended person or object.

Reserve room for captions and destination controls

Captions added after cropping can cover the product, the presenter’s hands or the click target. Place a provisional caption region early and identify collisions with essential information. Inspect a draft in the destination player on a real phone, including its description and controls. A universal margin cannot guarantee safe placement across interfaces. Rather than shrinking every line until it fits, consider shorter caption segments, a different shot or a separate visual explanation. Readability and the timing of attention matter more than retaining exactly the original arrangement.

Compare meaning against the landscape master

Because reframing removes information, mistakes can be invisible when the new version is reviewed alone. Compare it with the approved master and check whether a comparison target, a negation or an important condition has disappeared. A price left visible after its annual-billing qualification is cropped out is not an acceptable adaptation. Match the column a presenter points to and the state before and after an interface action. If explanations were also removed for brevity, request content approval rather than describing the change as a purely cosmetic format conversion.

Review the exported file on the intended device

The editing preview cannot establish the effective text size or the detail retained after delivery compression. Export a candidate and view it at a normal phone viewing distance. Check caption legibility, abrupt changes in focus, and blurred interface details enlarged from the source. Raising the output resolution does not necessarily rescue a diagram that is too dense for the display. Decide whether it needs a simpler visual or a separate explanation. Finish by checking that the spoken instruction still corresponds to what is visible at that moment.

Keep shared corrections and framing changes separate

A spelling or factual problem discovered during vertical editing may also exist in the landscape version. Return shared corrections to the script and source project, while recording vertical-only framing decisions separately. The delivery manifest should name aspect ratio, language, caption treatment and content revision. Also identify the master from which each variant was derived. This allows a later operator to update the right set of outputs, rather than rebuilding a vertical release from an obsolete landscape file or unnecessarily replacing every version when only one composition changed.

Write a delivery acceptance sheet

Start an acceptance sheet with visible subject matter throughout each scene, unobstructed essential information, retained price qualifications, legibility on the target device and a match to the approved content revision. Record which automatically suggested segments were actually reviewed. This is a proposed production checklist, not a measured claim about any editor’s performance. Choose software by whether the regular operator can adjust the frame and repeat export when a correction arrives. A smooth first demonstration is less useful than a version that the team can maintain after publication.
