  1. Inventory the business functions
  2. Test a repeatable content update
  3. Clarify contracts and ownership
  4. Inspect portability rather than assuming it

Inventory the business functions

List booking, enquiries, payments and any other functions the visitor journey requires. Inspect the relevant Wix features and plans, then establish how the same requirements would be delivered in Webflow or connected services. A broad feature list is less useful than a clear operating process. Count the systems that staff will have to maintain once the site is live.

Test a repeatable content update

For a growing library of articles or case studies, compare the content structure and the actual publishing steps. Webflow projects with CMS requirements need an appropriate CMS-capable plan. In either candidate, use realistic Japanese headings and image sizes rather than placeholder text. Ask the future editor to add an item, because editing confidence affects how consistently the site will be maintained.

Clarify contracts and ownership

For Wix, confirm the site plan that includes the required business functions. For Webflow, distinguish Site hosting from Workspace requirements and include relevant add-ons. If an agency builds the project, establish whose account will own it after handover and who pays each subscription. A clear ownership arrangement is part of the total-cost comparison, not merely an administrative detail.

Inspect portability rather than assuming it

If migration matters, document what can leave the platform and what must be rebuilt. Webflow code export has specific plan requirements and does not include a complete working copy of hosted CMS, forms or ecommerce. Apply the same scrutiny to content and business data in any builder. Choose an export and backup process for important information before the library becomes difficult to reconstruct.
