Complete one report with self-service first
For individual use, define the metrics and recipient and complete one self-service report. Visualization and organizational ownership are different requirements. Before polishing the layout, confirm source definitions and freshness and ask whether the recipient can make the intended decision. This shows whether a missing management capability, rather than an unfinished report design, is the actual reason to evaluate Pro.
Read the Pro user-and-project unit
The listed Pro project subscription is USD 9 per user per project per month. Do not read that as one flat company-wide charge. Map the people and projects you intend to license and verify the actual subscription conditions. Billing term and any separate contractual arrangement still need a check before turning a simple planning calculation into an approved budget.
Price connectors and source usage separately
A free report can still depend on paid connectors, stored data or query execution. Identify who bills each component and record refresh frequency and usage assumptions. Verify that the needed source exists and can be maintained under those conditions. Adding fields to a report is not a substitute for checking the feasibility and cost of acquiring them.
Example: planning two reporting projects
If, illustratively, three people require licensed access in each of two projects, the displayed unit-rate calculation is 3 × 2 × 9 = USD 54 per month. This explains the unit, not a guaranteed invoice. Check who actually needs those licensed roles and whether your assumed arrangement matches the subscription before using it as a purchasing commitment.
Check ownership and the exit plan
If continuity motivates Pro, test that the required report survives an operator change. Distinguish transferring the report from changing data credentials. Record reports, connections and responsible owners before reducing access. The goal is a configuration that continues after the previous operator’s permissions change, rather than a subscription purchased merely in the hope that it will solve an undocumented handover problem.
