Inventory what must move

Inventory static pages, CMS records, images, forms, language versions and old URLs. Counting visible pages alone misses drafts, taxonomy and references. Decide which structures must be reproduced and which can be consolidated before assessing any new platform’s suitability.

Evaluate Framer against the content model

Consider Framer when hosted design and publishing fit the intended model. Rebuild one representative collection rather than assuming existing CMS fields and permissions transfer unchanged. Include localization and editing roles in a full year’s operating comparison.

Separate business publishing from one-page scope

Evaluate Squarespace for a business-content and selling journey, and Carrd for a deliberately small page with one primary action. They are alternatives for different scopes. If a feature moves into another service, its connection and subscription belong in the post-migration budget.

Plan URL continuity deliberately

Create an old-to-new mapping for pages receiving useful visits. Check URLs, headings, essential content and enquiry routes before launch. Reproducing a visual style while omitting decision-critical information can leave returning visitors without the material they came to find.

Compare a smaller repair first

If routine editing is the main problem, check whether a better procedure or access configuration can address it. Compare that repair cost with a complete migration. Where switching is justified, validate one representative section before moving the entire site so structural mistakes are discovered early.

Separate retained content from deliberate removals

For a hypothetical eighty-page site, classify continuing services, historical cases and duplicated explanations before assuming everything should move unchanged. Record the destination of consolidated material. Deciding removals incidentally during visual work can lose useful explanations or established navigation paths.

After cutover, follow representative old URLs to the intended new content and complete an enquiry. A functioning editor in the new platform is not by itself evidence that visitor-facing migration succeeded.
