Prices exclude tax, currency conversion and introductory discounts. Different currencies and billing periods are not directly comparable. Japanese support can apply to input, output or the interface; check each tool’s scope.
Use one record model
Separate customers, requests and owners with explicit linking identifiers. Use the same sample to check whether a new request from an existing customer retains the customer relationship without duplicating it. Consistent record meaning is a stronger comparison criterion than the ability to reproduce a similar screen.
Test views and authorization separately
A filtered working view and enforced denial of other records are different requirements. Specify internal, administrative and external scopes, then match them to actual entitlements. Include what a shared-link holder can see in acceptance tests using disposable records rather than assumed confidentiality.
Normalize people and capacity
Check billable roles, records and storage independently for each platform. Equal total headcount does not imply equal paid seats. Normalize billing commitment and required controls so the comparison covers a usable team configuration rather than two unrelated single-person entry prices.
Decide whether hosting control is required
Baserow documents a self-hosted option. Where placement is a requirement, compare the necessary edition with infrastructure and staffing included. Removing a hosted subscription does not make operation free or governance complete; assign upgrades, backups and recovery explicitly.
A hypothetical two-hundred-company pilot
For a hypothetical two hundred organizations and five hundred requests, rehearse a company-name change and reassignment. Inspect relationships, attachments and blanks alongside the bulk import. A source-to-destination ID map makes an incorrect association inspectable after the initial move.
Validate the exit before committing
Reopen an export and inspect required values and field definitions. Baserow’s table export itself has documented exclusions such as historical material. For either choice, price records, authorization and automation as separate migration tasks; do not assume a future move is a complete one-click conversion.
Test two editors changing one record
Rehearse two editors correcting the same supplier contact and establish how the appropriate value is confirmed. The order in which writes are accepted does not itself determine business correctness. Compare the operator’s ability to consult authoritative material and retain necessary review evidence. Keep visual convenience separate from the ability to explain and correct a mistaken change afterward.
