Identify one missing capability
Select one slow task, such as investigation, adding tests or addressing review feedback. Require the same outcome and include supervision time. Testing every attractive feature can obscure the actual adoption reason; a contained gap gives you a clear way to decide whether an additional tool is worthwhile.
Include the reviewer’s experience
The operator can save time while creating more work for the reviewer. Inspect where the reasoning, affected behavior and tests are recorded. Someone other than the person who requested the change should be able to decide whether it is acceptable. Faster generation alone does not justify additional review cycles.
Verify the managed contract
Verify personal versus organization-managed access, available features and billing ownership. Whether company code may use a personal account is a separate requirement from convenience. Even when reusing an existing contract, confirm that it covers the feature you intend to use instead of relying on an old plan name.
Exercise the permission boundary
Exercise file, command and integration permissions with the same task. A read-only investigation should not silently become an edit in your evaluation. Before using confidential code, constrain the repository and environment and remove credentials that the task does not need. Review the effective settings, not just the product’s general security description.
Example: justifying an additional tool
Choose one investigation repeated in your current weekly workflow and complete it with the new candidate. Compare correctness, review cycles and consumption against the established method. If there is no explainable improvement, avoiding another contract or interface can be the right outcome. The comparison should resolve an operating problem rather than simply add another feature list.
Ask whether one tool is sufficient
If one existing tool meets the requirement, avoiding another contract or configuration can be sensible. If both have a distinct role, document which tasks belong to each and how work is handed off. Do not let multiple agents modify the same files concurrently without an explicit coordination process.
