Inventory decisions currently supported

List changes made using the current reports, not just reports opened recently. Some unused views may not need replacement at all. Separate essential observations from those the business can discontinue. Even when cost motivates the move, include additional validation and reporting effort. The useful specification describes decisions you must preserve rather than every capability the previous service offered.

Use Search Console for its own search questions

If search exposure and clicks are the main requirement, begin with the scope Search Console provides. It does not replace post-visit event observation. Do not translate a search-query or page observation into a completed on-site action. Keep any required later interaction as a separate collection requirement, even if a narrower search-only workflow removes the need for other reports.

Choose an observation method for interface friction

For an interface-friction question, assess Clarity or a properly authorized user test. A recording is not a complete event-reporting replacement, and one person’s sequence does not establish population-wide rates. Review eligibility and collection conditions and assign a method to a specific question. A smaller, deliberate investigation can be preferable to continuously collecting material nobody reviews.

Example: retaining only a few first-party counts

For an illustrative site needing only article and outbound-action counts, a minimal first-party collector may be an option. It still needs ownership of duplication, missing events, consent, retention and access. Custom implementation is not automatically free to operate or appropriately scoped. Define the maintenance responsibility and acceptance tests before treating fewer collected fields as a fully equivalent analytics replacement.

Validate the new method before retiring collection

Log changes in event definition and population instead of presenting a continuous equivalent series. Complete one recurring report with the new method and retain necessary context. Review old tags and destinations so retiring a dashboard actually retires unwanted collection. Preserve required business evidence while separately deciding what unnecessary personal data should no longer be kept.
