Identify the public individual offer

The checked public individual monthly offers are Pro USD10, Pro+ USD39 and Max USD100, alongside Free. Those prices do not establish an equivalent organization-managed arrangement. Identify whether access is personal or assigned by an organization before estimating a rollout. Use checkout for billing-period and applicable tax conditions. Verify the required feature in the intended client too: a nominal entry price is not a usable budget when that arrangement cannot perform the operation you need. Treat published prices as a starting point for an eligible configuration, not a complete specification of every Copilot surface.

Distinguish resource value and subscription

The plans display GitHub AI Credits separately from the subscription. A resource value shown on a plan is not cash returned to you or a second subscription price. The public comparison distinguishes base and flex allotments and says flex can change over time. Check the current account rather than fixing a changing promotional or additional value into a long-term estimate. Identify eligible consumption and exhaustion behavior. A lower fee and enough capacity to complete the work without interruption are related but different questions, and a purchase decision should make both assumptions visible.

Count work by feature and model

Current plans identify agent, review and CLI-related use as credit-consuming activity. Request count alone cannot equate a short interaction with a lengthy investigation. Keep records for routine fixes, larger research and PR review, including model selection and clarification. Do not convert an older premium-request quota using an invented exchange rate. Follow the same task through verification and acceptance, then relate consumption to that usable result. This reveals the resources your work actually needs instead of comparing quantities that represent different operations or historical billing systems.

Hypothetical pilot: two developers

For a hypothetical two-developer week, first confirm comparable entitlements. Do not aggregate request counts from Free and a larger plan as if they were equal capacity. Record accepted fixes, investigations and reviews with consumption and human checking time. Separate work interrupted by a limit from work repeated because an assumption was wrong. The former may justify capacity; the latter may need better requirements or supervision. This describes a trial design, not measured product results. Its value is attributing the shortage before a larger subscription funds more of the same avoidable rework.

Verify managed spending conditions

Organization budgets depend on allocation, additional spending and permitted features or models as well as users. Do not present an individual Pro price multiplied by headcount as a verified managed-contract total. Inspect administrative controls, notifications versus enforcement, and member lifecycle. If an existing agreement already supports the review work you need, another service may be unnecessary. Tie a new purchase to a missing entitlement or demonstrated capacity shortage. Additional advertised features should enter the business case only when the team intends to use and can administer them.

Reassess before renewal

At renewal, review active seats, rework on comparable tasks and where extra consumption arose. On retirement, inspect personal subscriptions, organization assignments, extensions and external connections separately. If removing review assistance, read the remaining merge requirements. Keep accepted code, tests and requirement decisions in ordinary engineering records so maintenance does not depend on an accessible chat. Disabling one user is not proof that every billing relationship changed. Confirm the financial state in the owning account and preserve a viable review process before calling the transition complete.
