Separate the IDE and AI agreements

Check the IDE license and AI entitlement separately. Inspect whether an existing product arrangement includes the resources you need or requires additional access. Record the account owner for each developer. A personal evaluation should not be treated as evidence that the entire organization is covered by the same agreement.

Distinguish Free and Trial

AI Free and an evaluation trial have different continuity and resource conditions. A generous first session does not establish ongoing free capacity. Record the effective entitlement and remaining allowance, then evaluate whether the tasks required after trial can continue before deciding that an upgrade is necessary.

Identify the organizational model

Distinguish per-user arrangements from JetBrains Central administration. A shared pool with user limits needs a budget based on allocation and actual consumption, not simply a personal fee multiplied by headcount. Ask the administrator who controls limits and purchases before translating an individual offer into a company-wide estimate.

Account for independent providers

With your own key or a third-party agent, include that provider’s invoice. Verify whether the intended feature actually works through that route. A cheaper model connection does not guarantee the same completion or agent behavior. Compare equivalent usable workflows rather than a managed allowance and an incomplete configuration.

Example: a two-person entitlement check

In a hypothetical two-person pilot, check each person’s entitlement before running the same task. Do not combine one person’s trial with another person’s paid allowance as if they were identical capacity. Record accepted work and interruptions separately so a purchase decision explains which usable resource is actually missing.

Review renewal and removal separately

Inspect renewal, purchased resources and the impact on the IDE license separately. Disabling a plugin is not proof that billing ended. Preserve code and shared configuration in the repository and ensure another maintainer can start and verify the project without the original AI arrangement before considering the switch complete.
