Evaluate a complete order
Start with a few representative products and map the journey through checkout, fulfillment and returns. A convincing storefront demonstration is not enough if the shipping rules or product variations create manual work for every order. Ask which operations the basic setup handles and which need an app or additional service. The evaluation should follow a sale through completion.
Match market and billing period
The official Japanese and US pages publish different local prices. The structured price here refers to the Japanese Basic plan’s annual-billed monthly equivalent, not the amount every international merchant will pay. Introductory promotions are excluded. Confirm the merchant location and billing period before comparing quotations, and distinguish an effective monthly figure from the cash paid for the annual commitment.
Build a total-cost worksheet
Separate card-processing costs from any applicable third-party transaction charges, then add apps, themes and the domain. A higher plan can have different payment rates, but whether it saves money depends on the sales volume and payment mix. Calculate that tradeoff with your own expected orders. Treat every recurring app as part of the continuing store budget, not a one-time setup expense.
Check readiness before launch
Verify the confirmation email, shipping calculation, mobile checkout and inventory update, then rehearse cancellation and refund handling. A free trial is a temporary evaluation, not a permanent free store. Check the normal subscription after any promotion, assign responsibility for customer data and document the essential apps. These checks turn a completed site into a store that somebody can operate.
Distinguish simulated and live test purchases
Use the documented test-order process to inspect notifications, inventory and shipping configuration. Include verification of the intended live payment state afterward: test mode can prevent real orders. A real payment followed by a refund is a different method and can leave processor charges, so do not assume all testing routes have the same consequences.
Rehearse an exceptional order
In addition to an ordinary purchase, rehearse a relevant exception such as an unavailable item, excluded destination, address correction or cancellation. Small catalogues still have exceptional orders. Document where staff inspect the current order record so the original builder is not the only person able to resolve early operating questions.
Assign content and selling ownership
Assign ownership for product descriptions, delivery conditions, company information and editorial pages. After a commercial change, check the related pages for old promises. Editorial publishing and order handling are different workloads; comfort with either one does not establish that the entire business operation has been simplified.
