Audit functions beyond pages

List form responses, appointment slots, customer communication, products and promotions. Assign ownership to every unverified migration item and inspect official procedures. Rebuilding pages does not complete the transition if existing appointments or orders cannot still be handled responsibly.

For content-led sites, model the editor’s work

For business information and case studies, evaluate the same routine edits on Framer or Squarespace. Check taxonomy, languages and contributor access. If booking or selling moves elsewhere, design notification ownership and the customer’s path between services, not just visual consistency.

For commerce-led sites, compare the order work

Where inventory and fulfilment dominate, include Shopify in the shortlist. Do not assume that every Wix record moves automatically. Separate products, customers, historical orders and member accounts, and decide what must transfer versus what must remain securely available in an archive.

Plan the cutover day

Choose when enquiries, bookings and orders switch to the destination that will hold the main record, not only when DNS changes. New records accumulating in two systems create reconciliation work. Assign responsibility for the final differences and establish the conditions under which the old process is resumed.

Evaluate transition and recurring costs together

Include rebuilding, data cleanup, form configuration and staff instruction alongside the subscription difference. Verify routine editing by the eventual operator. State a payback assumption for a cost-led move or the precise new requirement for a capability-led move, rather than relying on a vague expectation that a rebuild improves everything.

Plan a booking-business cutover

For a business with existing appointments, separate the new-booking cutover from support for earlier bookings. Preserve the necessary appointment and owner records, define the change-contact route and check whether the new form creates duplicate entries in the old register. Migration should not become a reason to copy personal information into unnecessary extra services.

On the first operating day, reconcile intake, appointments and notifications. Close the old route only after confirming business intake remains understandable, not merely after pages and DNS appear correct.
