Orders, stock and shipping

Connect order references, product codes and dispatch status to make fulfilment work traceable.

Soap stock shelves and a parcel packing bench

Orders, inventory and shipments count different things. Keep line items and shipment references alongside the order number so that shortages and split fulfilment remain visible.

The workflow

  1. Keep identifiers consistent

Distinguish order numbers, product codes and shipment references. Check blanks, duplicates and shifted columns before importing CSV files.

  2. Separate work in progress from completion

Record receipt, allocation, packing and dispatch separately. Preserve returns and cancellations as changes rather than deleting the original line.

  3. Reconcile counts and balances

Reconcile daily order counts against the register. Define when a stock warning may repeat, and use the original identifier to investigate failed processing.
